In the Fassa Valley, the mountains reveal their true beauty: woods, pastures, Dolomite peaks and proud villages form an authentic and evocative landscape. Here, nature meets Ladin culture, traditions are kept alive in everyday activities, and every experience represents a chance to embrace the true rhythm of the Dolomites.
Between majestic views, local flavours and outdoor activities, the Fassa Valley invites you to breathe in the mountains with a sense of calm, wonder and freedom.
The Hotel Alaska is your refuge in the valley: the ideal starting point to discover the area on the right foot, guided by our advice, suggestions, and useful information. From hiking to cycling and days spent skiing, our staff is always on hand to help you make the most of your holiday.
When the summer sun warms the mountain air, the Fassa Valley is the ideal place to walk, pedal and breathe in the Dolomites. Every day brings new discoveries, between scenic trails, high-altitude pastures, refuges, and trails to explore on foot or on two wheels.
Here are some places and experiences we love to recommend:
One of the most popular excursions from Campitello di Fassa. Explore the Val Duron, through meadows, pastures and open vistas, following a pleasant path that leads towards the Micheluzzi Refuge and, for the more adventurous, up to the Lake of Antermoia.
The Pordoi Pass offers one of the most spectacular views of the valley. Thanks to the cable car, Sass Pordoi, the famous Terrace of the Dolomites, is within easy reach, revealing unforgettable peaks, valleys and rocky profiles.
The Fassa Valley is also ideal for discovering on two wheels. From the Dolomites cycle path, a 48 km trail from Canazei to Molina di Fiemme, to the dirt tracks that lead to woods, mountain huts and high-altitude panoramas, each pedal stroke opens up new ways to breathe in the Dolomites.
A simple and panoramic walk leads from the San Pellegrino Pass to the Fuciade Basin, surrounded by meadows, huts and fascinating Dolomite views. A gentle and pleasant itinerary, ideal for families, even with a pushchair.
The Fassa Valley contains more than just nature: it is also brimming with Ladin culture and living traditions in the villages of the valley. Festivals, markets, folklore events, music, and occasions dedicated to the local area reflect the authentic soul of the mountains.
When the snow covers the Fassa Valley, the mountains reveal their most evocative nature. From the slopes of the Col Rodella and Sellaronda to snowshoeing at the foot of the Rosengarten group, and from walks in the snowy woods to cross-country skiing, every day brings a different way to experience the Dolomites.
The Hotel Alaska is located in an ideal position for winter activities: guests can take advantage of a free shuttle from the hotel to the Col Rodella ski lifts. For other destinations, a paid shuttle service is also available.
Here are some unmissable experiences:
From Campitello di Fassa, the Col Rodella is within easy reach, offering privileged access to the Sellaronda and the great Dolomiti Superski circuit. A day of skiing on scenic slopes, complete with high-altitude refuges and Dolomite scenery.
For guests in search of a slower and more harmonious pace, the Fassa Valley offers cross-country skiing trails immersed in evocative landscapes. The 50 km of slopes cover different areas, from Canazei to Pozza and Campitello.
To experience the quieter side of winter, one of the most evocative snowshoe walks leads towards Gardeccia, at the foot of the Rosengarten group. The route starts from the Ciampedie/Pian Pecei area and passes through snow-covered woods and panoramic clearings, with spectacular views of the Rosengarten group walls.
Winter in the Fassa Valley is also perfect for families: sledging slopes, snow play areas, and simple outdoor activities fill every day with moments to enjoy together. A fun and easy way to experience the mountains with little ones.
The villages are illuminated with Christmas spirit, aromas and traditions. For an evocative event, look no further than the Moena Christmas Markets, where wooden huts, crafts, local flavours, and festive lights transform the town centre into a small, enchanted village.
